LYPTUS®
Timber Products’ Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood is growing in popularity for its unique combination of exotic allure, excellent physical properties and environmental attributes. Lyptus trees are grown on well-managed plantations in Brazil using responsible forestry practices. In addition to the environmental benefits, Lyptus hardwood has rich grain patterns and color, giving warmth and beauty to finished cabinetry, furniture and millwork. Also, Timber Products now offeres new, redefined, B grade options to help meet the growing demand for alternative and sustainable building products.
Aesthetics Lyptus is a beautiful species, comparable to mahogany and cherry in appearance, with a fine grain, dramatic figure and rich color. It is a high-quality choice for many high-end applications, including cabinetry, furniture and store fixtures.
Environmental Features Few hardwoods have as strong an environmental story as Lyptus. It is grown on plantations that are part of a diverse ecosystem that includes a wide variety of trees of many ages.
Lyptus Hardwood Plywood is available with standard cores or as part of the GreenT™ product line. GreenT™ panels provide the same performance characteristics of standard panels, but also meet the requirements of:
- LEED®
- KCMA ESP®
- FSC (East and West)
- SFI® (West only)
- CARB phases 1 and 2.
Availability Lyptus is readily available in the B grade, the most popular choice.
Lower Cost Lyptus is a value-engineered option compared to species like mahogany and cherry.
