Lyptus®
Timber Products’ Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood is growing in popularity for its unique combination of exotic allure, excellent physical properties and environmental attributes. Lyptus® trees are grown on well-managed plantations in Brazil using responsible forestry practices. In addition to the environmental benefits, Lyptus® hardwood has rich grain patterns and color, giving warmth and beauty to finished cabinetry, furniture and millwork. Also, Timber Products now offers new, redefined B grade options to help meet the growing demand for alternative and sustainable building products.
Aesthetics
Lyptus® is a beautiful species, comparable to mahogany and
cherry in appearance, with a fine grain, dramatic figure and
rich color. It is a high-quality choice for many high-end
applications, including cabinetry, furniture and store
fixtures.
Environmental Features
Few hardwoods have as strong an environmental story as
Lyptus®. It is grown on plantations that are part of
a diverse ecosystem that includes a wide variety of trees of
many ages.
Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood is available with standard cores
as part of the GreenT™ product line. GreenT™ panels
provide the same performance characteristics of standard
panels, but also meet the requirements of:
• KCMA – Environmental Stewardship Program - Products Certified
• FSC (East and West)
• SFI® (West only)
• CARB Phases 1 and 2
Availability
Lyptus® is readily available in the B grade, the most
popular choice.
Lower Cost
Lyptus® is a value-engineered option compared to species
like mahogany and cherry.
Consistency
The product photos seen below are representative examples of
characteristics in our new B grade Lyptus®, which comes in
three colors: light, medium and dark. Approximately
60 – 70 percent of inventory is medium colored.
