Keeping Our Drivers Comfortable - A Look Inside Our Kenworth Trucks

When TP Trucking decided to update its fleet a few years ago, we asked our drivers and technicians which truck they believed to be the best. After collecting employee feedback and testing trucks from four different manufacturers, Kenworth was the clear winner and TP Trucking’s fleet now includes more than 100 Kenworth T680’s.

The Kenworth T680: Built for Driver Comfort and Safety?

Kenworth T680’s are known as “the driver’s truck” for good reason. The quiet but powerful 455-horsepower engine paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission pulls smooth and offers the perfect combination of power, control and comfort. Other top features include:

  • Excellent visibility
  • Lane-departure warning system
  • Side object detection system
  • Adaptive cruise control

The 200-gallon fuel tank averages 1,300 miles between fill-ups and a high-resolution, full-color display helps the driver measure and manage the truck’s performance. Some of our drivers report fuel economy as high as 8 mpg and enjoy bonuses for exceeding TP Trucking’s fuel mileage goals.

Going the Extra Mile for Our Drivers

Our fleet of Kenworth T680’s are all less than five years old and include amenities to make life on the road as comfortable as possible. The 76-inch sleepers include a refrigerator, microwave oven, desk and an extra bunk for a family member to tag along, or for team driving.

TP Trucking’s extensive truck maintenance program keeps our vehicles road-ready. Our trucks receive service every 20,000 miles and whenever an issue is detected by Kenworth’s TruckTech+ Remote Diagnostics.

Recent upgrades include Kenworth’s Idle Management System and a battery-powered HVAC unit that allows drivers to crank up the heat or AC without idling the truck. This helps them relax in comfort and save fuel. The system can provide 12 hours of continuous heating or cooling and will automatically restart the truck to charge the battery if needed.

We also just added EpicVue, a satellite TV provider that broadcasts hundreds of channels, including HBO, Showtime, and NFL Sunday Ticket.
