The Rich Schwab Award: Honoring the Memory of One of Timber Products’ Finest

At Timber Products, we constantly look for opportunities to recognize the hard work and dedication of our amazing employees. While we strive to show our appreciation in small ways every day, we also aim to recognize team members who go above and beyond in larger and more significant ways—and one of the ways we’re doing that? With the Rich Schwab Award.

As our Vice President of Domestic Sales (and fun!), Rich Schwab was an indispensable part of the Timber Products team. Not only did he bring excellence to his role, but his warmth, his kindness, and his ability to make his team (and everyone who met him) feel valued, appreciated, and meaningful was the embodiment of everything Timber Products stands for. It was an honor and a privilege to work with him, and the entire Timber Products team is richer for having known him.

Rich passed away in 2018, but his spirit is still very much a part of what we do at Timber Products. His legacy continues to inspire and motivate us every day—and to honor Schwab, we wanted to find a way to continue that legacy for years to come.

And that’s how the Rich Schwab Award was born.

Each year, Timber Products will recognize employees who embody the values Schwab became known for—being an intuitive leader and motivator; leading by positive example; and infusing the workplace with warmth, selflessness, and a true sense of caring. Recipients of the Rich Schwab Award are nominated by their peers under these core criteria: the team members making the greatest impact on their teams by being kind, making others feel valued, and leading by example.

In high school, many of his peers used to say Rich Schwab got his name because he was “Rich in friends.” That was certainly the case at Timber Products—and through this award, we hope to keep the memory and legacy of our dear friend and colleague, Rich Schwab, alive for future generations of the Timber Products family.

We’ve recently awarded both David Mitchell and Will Bain as the first two Schwab Award recipients with more to come soon!
