Take a look around you, nearly everything you see traveled on a semi-truck to reach your home or office. Truck drivers log billions of miles each year delivering food, fuel, building supplies and consumer products.
There are more than three million semi-trucks trucks on the road, and unfortunate incidents do occur. About 11 percent of tragic automobile accidents involve large trucks; a small percentage considering the number of trucks on the road, but an unacceptable number nonetheless.
Driver safety training and well-maintained vehicles can help reduce the number of accidents, and TP Trucking is committed to both. In 2018, we updated the majority of our fleet to brand new Kenworth T680’s, a truck packed with safety features including:
- Superior visibility
- Lane-departure warning system
- Side object detection system
Our trucks receive maintenance every 20,000 miles, or whenever an issue is detected by Kenworth’s TruckTech+ remote diagnostics. Once a truck reaches 500,000 miles or five years of age, we rotate them out of our long-haul fleet. This ensures our drivers are always equipped with the latest safety innovations and maintains our industry-leading safety record.
TP Trucking Honored with OTA Safety Award
The Oregon Trucking Association (OTA) recently recognized TP Trucking for its commitment to safety by bestowing their Safety Professional of the Year Award to our Driver & Safety Manager, George Wood. The award recognizes trucking companies who have an excellent safety record relative to miles traveled and demonstrate a long-term commitment to safety through effective implementation of safety programs and participation in industry safety events.
Our professional drivers are a big part of why TP Trucking has one of the best safety records in the nation, and their job isn’t easy. A loaded semi-truck weighs 20 to 30 times more than a passenger vehicle and requires a 20 to 40 percent greater stopping distance - something drivers of passenger vehicles often forget.
If you’re an experienced truck driver looking for great benefits and competitive pay, we want to hear from you. TP Trucking is currently hiring professional drivers for long and short-haul routes.
