Our sustainable source of high-quality timber

An affiliate of Timber Products, the Michigan-California Timber Company (MCTC) responsibly manages about 114,800 acres of forest land in North Central California. We care not only for our timber, but for wildlife—and in fact, the entire ecosystem.

California’s forest practice regulations are the most stringent in the world, so we are held to a very high standard of forest management. In addition to these rules, MCTC lands have been third-party certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) for 15 years and is annually audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers to the SFI standard.

  • Specialties

We carefully prepare and implement harvest plans, keeping our timberlands healthy and providing a steady supply of timber to Timber Products. We also manage reforestation after harvest, strategically thin the stands, and manage 800 miles of road on the land.

  • Team

Our staff of five Registered Professional Foresters includes a wildlife biologist, who ensures practices maintain populations of wildlife species. We also employ two forestry technicians.

  • Locations

This division is based in Yreka, California, near Mount Shasta and within about 40 miles of our Yreka softwood veneer facility.
