Our softwood veneer begins with the approximately 350,000 trees that we plant each year. These seedlings are planted by elevation and seed zone to maintain the best genetics for future generations. Once harvested, timber from our forestlands is shipped to our softwood veneer mill in Yreka, California. Our Softwood Veneers are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®).
As part of Timber Products’ commitment to sustainable forestry, 100% of the log is used during the and after the peeling process. We offer softwood peeler cores in 8’, 9’,’ and 10’ lengths as well, each with a diameter of 3.5”. The softwood cores are typically used as landscape timber, pressure treated posts, and as pallet stock lumber.
Wood chips are used to make paper, MDF composite panels, or at our Yreka mill to generate steam. Bark dust is sold for use in agricultural landscaping, while sawdust from our softwood logs is sent to our Sutter Creek, CA and Medford, OR facilities to make particle board.
Our softwood veneer comes in a variety of thicknesses and lengths. We manufacture our softwood veneer to the tightest tolerances, making it ideal for use in the manufacturing of hardwood plywood, softwood plywood, and laminated veneer lumber.
Softwood veneer produced at our Yreka veneer facility is utilized across a broad spectrum of veneer-based products. Products made with our softwood veneers include hardwood plywood, laminated veneer lumber and softwood plywood (commodity and commercial).
One of the main benefits of our softwood veneer is its ability to bolster the quality of hardwood plywood panels. As hardwood veneer skins become increasingly thinner, the quality of the softwood under the veneer face and back becomes essential to the quality of the panel.
Douglas Fir softwood plywood and veneer are used in a variety of applications from food storage to concrete framing. Douglas Fir is not as susceptible to mold and mildew as other softwood species, making it an ideal material for food-grade storage boxes. Its moisture expansion and resistance properties make Douglas Fir incredibly useful as a construction material during the concrete forming process.
Shipments of veneer produced in Yreka is done exclusively by truck. TP Trucking is an excellent resource for moving your veneer. Please call to inquire.
