TP Trucking Earns HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award

On November 10th, U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia recognized TP Trucking as one of the 675 recipients of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award during an award ceremony at the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes job creators who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans. TP Trucking earned the Gold Award by hiring veterans to make up more than 20% of its hires this year.

“Military service instills many of the things we value most in the workplace. The ability to give, receive and execute orders. The ability to work as a part of a diverse team,” said Scalia, U.S. Secretary of Labor.

TP Trucking worked hard during 2020 to recruit and retain veterans exactly for those abilities. Joe Anderson, TP Trucking’s recruiter in Central Point, has partnered with multiple agencies and programs around Oregon and across the country to achieve this. These include the Hire Our Vets Program, the Veterans Administration in White City, Oregon, and the HIRE Vets Medallion Program.

“Each Veteran applicant, no matter what the desired job qualifications, will get a call and have the opportunity to talk about their qualifications. As a transportation company we realize the value American Veterans bring to the civilian workforce,” said Anderson.

Craig Turner, TP Trucking’s General Manger agreed, “The Armed Forces teaches our service members to be diligent, disciplined, and dedicated. These are important traits for anyone to have, but when it comes to driving trucks those important attributes are even more critical to have and our Veterans have proven that to be the case.”

TP Trucking’s values and culture are set to a high standard and both Anderson and Turner agreed that veterans are key to keeping those high as TP Trucking expands.

“As TP Trucking grows and expands to locations across the U.S., we see Veterans as an integral part of our growth. We know that Veterans bring skills and abilities to the workforce and we are excited to engage Veterans now and in the future,” stated Anderson.

TP Trucking is grateful to have received the Gold Award from the HIRE Vets Medallion Award and looks forward to continued growth with veterans and as a company.
